TikTok Shop Malaysia seller 2026: three changes to understand first
The focus this year is not simply opening a shop and selling products.
Malaysian sellers need to manage three things:
· A more complex platform fee structure.
· More disciplined order and return handling.
· Electronic invoicing (e-Invoice) and shipping SST affecting back-office processes.
As of 1 September 2026, TikTok Shop Malaysia charges a 3.78% transaction fee, inclusive of SST.
The platform support fee is RM0.50 per successfully delivered order, or RM0.54 including 8% SST. This fee is generally not refunded when an order is returned or refunded after successful delivery.
From 00:00 on 7 September 2026, 6% SST will be charged on applicable seller shipping-related services. During the transition period from 1 to 6 September, TikTok Shop will bear the SST.
This change applies to platform shipping-related services. It does not mean every seller automatically becomes an SST registrant. A seller’s own SST obligations still depend on the business type, products or services, and MySST rules.
TikTok Shop Malaysia seller 2026: what does it really cost?
Sellers should not look at the product price alone.
The real calculation should include:
· Product cost;
· Seller discount;
· TikTok Shop commission;
· Transaction fee;
· Platform support fee;
· Seller-paid shipping;
· Shipping-related SST;
· Affiliate commission and advertising;
· Returns, refunds and packaging loss.

Commission formula:
(Product price − seller discount) × applicable category commission rate
Transaction fee formula:
(Original item price − seller discount + buyer-paid shipping) × 3.78%
Do not estimate profit by subtracting one generic platform rate from the selling price. Confirm the product category first, then include platform fees, shipping and promotional costs in the calculation.
Settlement speed also affects cash flow

In cases involving abnormal activity, risk or policy issues, the platform may extend settlement timing, up to 30 calendar days.
As order volume grows, owners should track actual gross margin per order, refund rate, platform deductions, cash release timing and working-capital needs—not only GMV.
How should different sellers choose an operating and system setup?
New sellers
A new shop can start with Seller Center for product, order, shipping and finance management.
The New Shop Adjustment Period still matters. Current limits are shown below:

New shops move up through performance. For example, Standard requires at least 10 live listings, completion of the New Seller Quiz, fewer than 5 violations in the last 30 days and a store rating of at least 2.5 in the last 60 days.
Small and medium businesses
If the business also operates a website, physical store, Shopee, Lazada or other channels, unify inventory early.
· SKU mapping;
· Inventory synchronization;
· Automatic order import;
· Logistics status synchronization;
· Return and refund records;
· Platform fee reconciliation;
· Financial report export.
Mall and brand sellers
Brand sellers should keep authorization documents, product proof, images and descriptions organized. Individual sellers may be restricted from selling certain brands. For those products, a corporate seller account and brand authorization documents may be required.
High-volume sellers
When order volume rises, common failures are overselling inventory, missed orders, incorrect shipping weights, late refund handling and mismatches between platform settlement and accounting records.
These sellers are better served by an OMS, ERP or other e-commerce management system.
What should be prepared before selling?
Prepare the TikTok Shop Seller Center setup in this order:
1. Register or sign in to Seller Center.
2. Choose Malaysia as the operating market.
3. Choose an individual or corporate seller account.
4. Submit identity or business verification documents.
5. Enter the legal business name, address, phone and email.
6. Submit bank account information.
7. Set the warehouse or pickup address.
8. Set the return address.
9. Enter the contact person and postcode.
10. Upload product information and wait for review.
11. Complete the New Seller Quiz and onboarding tasks.
12. Check whether products are prohibited, restricted or require brand authorization.
For sole proprietors or individual businesses operating in Peninsular Malaysia, TikTok Shop guidance reminds sellers to follow Companies Commission of Malaysia, or SSM, registration requirements. Online shop information should also show the registered business name and registration number.
Product information checklist
· Product name;
· Product description;
· Product images and video;
· SKU and variants;
· Product price;
· Inventory quantity;
· Actual weight;
· Packaging weight;
· Package dimensions;
· Brand authorization documents;
· Product certificates or test reports;
· Return and after-sales rules.
How should orders, shipping, returns and tax be handled?
Order fulfillment workflow
1. Open Seller Center → Orders → Manage Orders.
2. Open To Ship and filter for Awaiting Packing.
3. Select one or more orders.
4. Click Arrange Shipment.
5. Print the shipping label, packing list and picking list.
6. Pick, pack and check the items.
7. Choose pickup or drop-off.
8. Wait for the logistics provider to scan the parcels.
9. Check Shipped, In-Transit and Delivered in Seller Center.
10. Keep delivery proof and order records.
Sellers must hand over parcels within the required shipping time. Otherwise, late dispatch, seller-fault cancellation or automatic cancellation may follow. Under platform shipping, the logistics provider is assigned by the platform.
Returns and refunds
After a buyer submits a return or refund request, sellers generally act twice: review the request first, then review the returned product and refund amount after it arrives.
Sellers should act within 1 working day. Otherwise, the platform may approve the request automatically. The seller can approve, reject with valid evidence, offer a partial refund or appeal a platform decision.
For Mall products, the return or refund request window is 30 calendar days after the order status changes to Shipped. For non-Mall products, follow the deadline shown for the specific order and current policy.
Electronic invoicing (e-Invoice) preparation

Businesses with annual turnover or revenue below RM1 million may be exempt if they meet the relevant exemption conditions. Turnover alone is not enough; businesses should also check corporate shareholders, holding companies, related companies and joint ventures.
There are special rules for new businesses: businesses that began operating from 2023 to 2025 and reached RM1 million in annual revenue implement from 1 July 2026; businesses beginning from 2026 that do not qualify for exemption implement from 1 July 2026 or their actual commencement date, whichever is later; businesses starting from 2026 with first-year revenue below RM1 million generally implement on 1 January in the second year after the year in which the threshold is reached.
The system should retain the order ID, customer data, product and SKU, item amount, discounts, platform fees, shipping fees, refund amounts, tax data, and e-Invoice submission and validation records.
If the business uses MyInvois or accounting software, finance, operations and the system provider should confirm that the fields match before going live.
